Oxwagon Accommodation
Come! Sleep in a real Oxwagon!
Only R850 per person, including a Champagne Breakfast.
Oxwagon Lodge has 6 original restored Oxwagons, that have been restored and converted to charming accommodation – perfect for families and couples to escape the Rat Race.
Each Oxwagon is cute and cosy. And simple. The main bedroom (double-bed) is inside the Oxwagon itself. Each Oxwagon also has an attached “Hartbeeshuisie” chalet that comprises a sitting room or second bedroom (single beds) plus a private bathroom with hot shower and flushing toilet.
Plus, we have electricity. So, really, it is quite modern for Voortrekkers. And … we have Free Wi-Fi. Wow, can you believe it?!
But take note – the only TV at Oxwagon Lodge is the “Voortrekker TV” in the Lapa.
Each Oxwagon has the same layout, but some are smaller and some are larger. The smallest Oxwagon is the “Felix Lategan” (sleeps 2), the largest is the “Bert Joubert” (sleeps 6). We allocate accommodation according to the practical principle of Best-Fit. In total, all the Oxwagons can sleep 26 people.
NB. If you need extra accommodation for a large group, then ask us about the Upper Bus – a converted Double-decker Bus with bunk beds! Cheap-and-cheerful, but entertaining
What’s the damage? The tariff is a per-person tariff. It includes an excellent Champagne Breakfast the next morning, which is a great way to greet each day. The tariff is R850 pp. Children under 12 are R455. If 2 people stay in the 6-sleeper Oxwagon, we only charge for 2 people.
What about dinner? Perhaps you would like to join us for the Trekker Braai in the Lapa? This is a real old-fashioned South African braai with the accompaniments like roosterkoekies and fresh plaasbrood (farm bread) and “moerkoffie”, which we “moer” on the fire after dinner. Very social and lots of fun. The Trekker Braai price is R350 pp.
Want a different dinner option? If so, book one of our delicious Romantic Sunset Picnic hampers at the Terraces above the Amphitheatre. Great views from there! The picnic includes all your picnic goodies plus a bottle of Champagne, the strawberries, and other romantic items. No need for dinner afterwards. We have a range of picnic hampers, please ask for more details.
Of course, if you have booked a party or wedding or conference then we cater for large groups of 120 - 200 people with options including the Full Monty Skaap Spit-Braai, buffets, potjiekos, etc. And we can prepare group picnics for 100 people, as well.
… Hey, Tour Operators! Oxwagon Lodge is a great 1st night or last night experience for inbound tours, and there are plenty of excellent tourist activities around Hartbeespoort Dam, if you need a package. Please give me a call to discuss what we can offer your clients.
